Heart: Donny Goines Interview
A.B. Frasier: You told me earlier you were a big RPG head, what rpg's you like to get busy on?
Donny Goines: I'm a Final Fantasy fanatic man. Honestly since I've played part 7 I've been hooked. That game in particular is a classic (The final battle between Cloud and Sepihroth was ill!!!) but I love the whole series. Some are much better then others though. I've always played different types of RPG's. I also replay then over and over again.
Is there something about a role playing game that's better than other genres to you?
Well I'm a thinker and I love a good plot so that genre is right up my alley. I like some action games and a few shooters but they don't really have replay value to me and become boring after awhile. Another reason I like RPG's is that you play them for HOURS and still find more adventures. I love open ended stories.
What other games did you come up on growing up?
The obvious ones of course. Mario, Duck Hunt, Zelda when I was much younger. As I grew a little older I got into games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill and then I gravitate towards the RPG's. I also LOVED Street Fighter 2. My favorite game of all time probably next to FFVII
"I got a Metal Gear for PS2, I played that joint for 18 hours straight until I ended it because I didn't have a memory card."
There's this congressman trying to put warning labels on games like cigarettes have. Do you feel like video games are a danger to children?
I wouldn't say they are dangerous to children because its just a video game. Like anything in excess though, if its not done in moderation I can see it causing some issues. I remember when I got a Metal Gear for PS2, I played that joint for 18 hours straight until I ended it because I didn't have a memory card. I just got up to eat, use the bathroom and that was it. I don't think that was healthy but I did it anyway. I don't think a warning label would have stopped me if it was there though so would good would it have done?
Is it the governments responsibility to raise our kids?
Not at all. That's the sole responsibility of the parents. The only people who are suppose to raise children is the people who brought them into the world. Teachers, Artists, etc. are not suppose to raise your kids. You should.
Lets say you got a big endorsement to have a game made based on your
life. Whats the biggest enemy we would have to defeat?
Good question. I would have to fight to myself at the end of the day because I'm my own worst enemy. The boss would leap from the mirror and come at me with all sorts of demons haha.

Minute After Midnight In Stores Now!
The new album is crazy. whats the story behind the cover art?
Thank you. Well if you listen to the album you know I'm rapping from my heart. All of the subject matter is real to me and that's what I tried to express. Now the album name derives from the Cinderella story and you have a X Ray of my heart. How does is connect? The heart is actually a pumpkin. When you look it closely you will see it cleared. Shout out to Aaron Petz. He's is a really dope artist and the one who designed that cover.
What is it you want a new listener to grab from your music?
I want them to get a better understanding of me and my life. Even if the stories are fictional they are based on my reality in some way, shape or form and that's what I try to deliver. I hope every listener understands my story and those of others around me.
You remind me heavily of what rap used to be about. If there was one thing about the rap game today that you can get rid of what would it be?
The fakeness. 90% of people in this game are so fake. I can't stand it. I just wish people would be real with their audience.

You have a strong online buzz. Do you feel the Internet is becoming a huge part of the new rap game?
No question. The Internet is the foundation of my career and without it you wouldn't even know who I am. The Internet is the new streets. Period. Either people embrace it or they get left behind. Its that simple.
Is there any last word for the fans?
I want to say to thank you for conducting this interview. I truly appreciate it. Thank you to all the readers. Please pick up my album "Minute After Midnight" at ITunes, Rhapsody and Amazon. Much love.
