Dragon Age Origins More Globally Successful Than Mass Effect

BioWare’s Rob Bartel spoke on Dragon Age: Origins recently, saying that not only has it been more successful globally than the Mass Effect series, but it has been one of their most successful franchises period. When you consider Bioware has Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate and Jade Empire among their list of IP’s that’s a big shocker. While speaking with MCV, Rob Bartel said the following.

“Dragon Age was an extremely successful title for us – last November it was the single most globally successful title we’ve put out to date,” Bartel said at EA’s European showcase back in May.

“This is one of our two primary IPs in the Edmonton studio in Canada, and then we’re working on the Old Republic down in Austin [Texas].

“So Dragon Age is a very big part of what we do and for what the future for BioWare will hold for sure.”

With Dragon Age 2 already announced, EA and Bioware are set to do a full reveal at Gamescom on August 17th. It seems Dragon Age has established itself as a successful IP that will continue for ages to come. If you have yet to play the first one because you aren’t down with the whole med evil setting, then I suggest you drop the ignorance and try it out before the second one comes out. It is definitely one of the most underrated titles this generation, and the fact that it’s out doing Mass Effect 2 somewhat shows how valuable it is as an IP.
