Gears Of War 3 Delayed Until Fall 2011

With October and the Halloween season officially in full swing, Epic games decided to unveil some horrifying news of it’s own today. VG247 is now reporting that Gears of War 3 will be delayed until Fall 2011. Fans of the series will recall Cliffy B stating that the game would originally hit stores in April 2011. What you might not know is that Gears 3 was actually supposed to be released this holiday season, but was delayed so Microsoft can keep the focus on Kinect. Epic Producer Rod Fergusson added this statement on the latest delay:

“I know fans are going to be disappointed with the new release date, but rest assured that this is a business decision between partners, and not a quality issue.Gears 3 was on track to be the most polished Gears of War game ever when it released in April, and this additional time allows us to polish it that much more before it hits shelves next fall”.

In other words, Microsoft is fully acknowledging that their exclusives are severely diminishing and that fans will have no choice but to wait and see what the future holds for the company. While third party titles will always be a popular draw on the Xbox 360, there is no denying that the topic of exclusive AAA titles are what fuels half the arguments made up by diehard fanboys. Regardless of which side your on, you would have to be foolish to deny that Sony is going to have a monster lineup next year. In any case, what do you guys think about the delay?
