Xbox Live Gold Subscription Receives Price Increase

The PS3 fanboys are gonna have a field day with this news. Microsoft is increasing the pricing on Xbox Live Gold subscriptions. That’s right, the $50 dollars a year that you pay for Xbox live Gold is no longer sufficient for Microsoft.

In his latest blog post, Major Nelson has revealed that the gold service is getting a $10 dollar price increase, setting the new price of Xbox Live Gold to $60 dollars a year. The new pricing will go into effect on November 1st, 2010 for every Xbox Live gold member in Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom or the United States. Though Microsoft is going to upset plenty of their loyal users (me) with this latest news, they have a discount that offers 12 months of Xbox Live for $39.99, nice try Microsoft.

I’ve been a Xbox Live Gold member since 2004 and will continue to be until Xbox no longer exist, I die, or I stop gaming – whichever comes first. This price increase sucks but at this point I don’t think I can go on without Xbox Live, that’s the number one reason I enjoy Xbox 360 so much. Again the price increase sucks, but if you’re smart enough you’ll always find a way to get a discount on your subscription. But I’m curious to know what new additions are being added to justify this $10 dollars increase.

So Xbox Live Gold members, will you continue to renew your subscription on Xbox live?
