Carmageddon Website Hints At A Series Revival

Of all the franchises currently lost in limbo, the one I’d least like to see make a return is Carmageddon. Carmageddon and its two successors were first released for the PC in 1997, 1998 and 2000 respectively.

A hybrid of the first two games was also released for the PSone and Nintendo 64, and as expected both were absolutely terrible. Pitched as a violent, vehicular combat game, Carmageddon was not even nearly as fun as it sounds. But don’t just take my word for it, check out this gameplay video below…

After watching the above clip, it’s not hard to tell why Carmageddon 4 was cancelled way back in 2005, but unfortunately death isn’t always certain in the videogame industry. Carmageddon.com (owned by Square Enix) currently displays a countdown timer which suggests that a new game in the series will be unveiled next week.

I won’t even pretend to be intrigued by this revelation, so instead I’ll leave you with footage from a true classic!
