THQ announced today that development for Homefront 2 will be handled by none other than Crytek. Apparently the Crytek UK team will be the ones taking on the project, for those that don’t know Crytek UK used to be Free Radical (the team behind Timesplitters and Haze). At the moment THQ are hinting at a 2013 release for Homefront 2, which means we have a long wait before we see the results of this switch up. The first game released earlier this year and was reasonably accepted by gamers.
Crytek boss Cevat Yerli had the following to say:
“We believe that bringing our level of quality, creativity and production values to the next Homefront title, creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game. It’s really important to us that THQ has the faith in giving us a lot of creative freedom over one of its most important properties to allow us to bring the Homefront world to life in a new and innovative way.”
