Shots Fired: Dice Says Their Competition Is Getting Lazy

Swedish developers DICE have gotten very mouthy, sending a couple shots at Activision in the latest edition of OPM magazine. DICE boss Karl Magnus-Trodesson told OPM “Our competitors are getting lazy” obviously referring to the publishers of the popular FPS Call of Duty. Karl then went on to elaborate on why he thinks they are lazy, before telling the ‘competition’ “we are coming for them”.

“They’re using the same engine, the same recipe for building a game. At some point you need to take that leap. I haven’t seen them take that leap since a long time ago.

“We are doing that now. They had better watch out. We are coming for them.”

Battlefield 3 is already looking ten times better than the past 3 Call of Duty games put together, so I won’t doubt the mans confidence one bit. As this developer war goes on it will be interesting to see how things turn out this Fall when both Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (apparently) release. Let us know what you think, which company has your support?
