Bioware founders Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk yesterday announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be released December 20th in the US and December 22nd in Europe and the UK. It was announced yesterday at the Eurogamer Expo, and I was there in the room myself to receive the announcement. The presentation from the two Bioware founders was every Bioware fans dream, as they spoke through Bioware’s whole history of video games. They then gave everybody in the room early access to the Star Wars: Old Republic beta, which I am absolutely ecstatic about.
I managed to play the game itself on the floor and I was amazed at how they could merge that level of storytelling into a fully multi-player MMO experience. It was as if I was playing KOTOR, but of course there were other players also participating at the same time. The graphical quality was amazing, and you also have the interactive dialog choices which have become a standard in Bioware games.
I will be doing more of an in depth preview of the game later this week, so look out for that. For now get your money right before December hits, so you can be a part of The Old Republic.
