Throwback Thursday: Eazy-E – Merry Muthaphuckkin’ Xmas

For this week’s Throwback Thursday, I thought I’d take the “Eazy” route and look back at Eazy-E‘s “Merry Muthaphuckkin’ Xmas” from 1992.

This was the 5th and final track of Eazy’s “5150: Home 4 tha Sick” EP. (Speaking of EP’s and Christmas: look out for TheKoalition.com’s very own EP “Doritos & Mtn. Dew” which will be released on Christmas day!)

“The Godfather of Gangsta Rap” featured Rudy Ray Moore (Dolemite) and his very own Ruthless Records label artists Menajahtwa (a female duo from Compton), Buckwheat & Atban Klann, (mostly known for having Will.I.Am and apl.de.ap from Black Eyed Peas in their group) making their debut on this very song.

If you look at the images for Will.I.Am from this time period, it is quite amusing and surprising to see the Compton version of him and not the “I’ve Got A Feeling” version. He was known as Will 1X at the time.

Sadly, the Hip-Hop community lost Eazy-E in March 1995 to complications of AIDS, which he developed due to his infamous lifestyle of women. He was only 31 years old at the time of his passing.

Eazy-E was known for his gangsta rap tracks but also for the comedic side to his music. If you’re looking for pure lyricism and raw production then wait until next week’s Throwback Thursday as it resumes back to normal business because “Merry Muthaphuckkin’ Xmas” is a Christmas medley novelty song.

If you want some more Eazy-E then click the following links for “5150: Home 4 tha Sick” which are included on the “Eazy Duz It” album which was re-issued in 2002.
