Microsoft Renews “Killer Instinct” Trademark

In what could only mean good news for the future, Microsoft has revealed that they have recently renewed their trademark for Killer Instinct. The announcement came via PlayXBLA.com which suggests that MS are prepping a HD remake of the original game rather than the full-fledged sequel.

Developed by RARE, Killer Instinct was originally released in arcades during the fall of 1994. It was also supposed to be a launch title for the Nintendo 64, However continuous delays of Nintendo’s hardware lead to the game being ported down to the SNES instead. The N64 would receive an inferior sequel just one year later titled Killer Instinct Gold.

Killer Instinct is still regarded as one of the best fighting games of all time so it goes without saying that any product bearing the KI name will be hotly anticipated. If any more details come to light, we’ll be sure to let you know.
