Ratchet and Clank Trilogy Getting the HD Rerelease Treatment

With the wave of PS2 classics being rereleased in HD, it comes as no surprise that the Ratchet and Clank trilogy, Insomniac’s gadget-wielding adventure, is getting the same treatment.

Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked & Loaded in Europe) and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (Ratchet & Clank 3 in Europe) will be available together on one disc. As has become standard with these releases, the game will support 1080p HD graphics and will feature trophies for each game. This time around, Sony is including 720p 3D support, so you can turn your foes into chickens… IN 3D! Also, the online multiplayer mode from Up Your Arsenal will also be available, which will be much easier to access than playing the PS2 online.

It’s hard to believe that the first game in the series launched 10 years ago, and now you can relieve all the glory with shiny new graphics. Even if you’ve become overwhelmed by the sheer number of HD remasters, the Ratchet & Clank series truly shines, and this one is worth checking out. It will release on May 16th in Europe, with a later fall release for North America, citing “special plans for our North American fans”.
