MAG and SOCOM Servers Going Offline Next Year

Remember MAG? No? Zipper Interactive’s 256 player shooter was touted as a revolutionary step in first person shooter history but never lived up to it’s unreasonably high expectations, the inevitable has happened and come January 2014 the servers for the game will be turned off for good.

Today Sony announced that the online servers for MAG, SOCOM: Confrontation and SOCOM 4 will be shut down at the start of next year, meaning that if you ever wanted to play online you have a few months to do so, although I’m not so sure you will find anybody playing.

It’s always a shame when a company has to turn off servers, it means that a part of that game dies and in the case of MAG it basically means the whole game doesn’t exist anymore.

Let me know in the comments if you ever played MAG or if you’re sad that the servers will be going offline.
