Parker and Stone Talk South Park: The Stick of Truth at Comic Con

At a panel at Comic Con 2013, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have talked about the development of their new game South Park: The Stick of Truth and the troubles that followed.

“I really loved playing Skyrim, as many people did, after getting lost in the expansive world and huge cast of characters of Bethesda’s game, I was like ‘Let’s do this. This is easy.’

Obsidian kept saying, “cut it down, cut it down, cut it down,” and that everyone kept saying to us [make that extra content] DLC.”

Apparently the crowd at Comic Con booed the idea of DLC and Parker replied: “and I agree… fuck that, somehow or another, this shit will get out there,”

When asked about the collapse of THQ (former publisher of the game) Parker said:

“We really just read about it in the news, that they were going bankrupt, that someone else bought the game. Once we heard who had bought it, we got really excited. We flew up to Ubisoft and all that momentum picked up and we got really excited again.”

This is some great insight into the game, and whilst it is sad that some of the game will be cut it is great that a game of this scale is even happening at all. The game looks fantastic from what I have seen and I personally love everything that Trey and Matt have done, so considering that they seem very involved with the game I think it is safe to say that I will love this one as well.

Let me know in the comments what you think of the upcoming game and how you feel about Trey Parker’s comments.
