PSN Struggling To Cope Under European Launch

by on November 29, 2013

Sony has had to remove some features from PSN in an attempt to lower the pressure being put on the PlayStation Network, the new influx of people due to the European launch has caused the network to be very unreliable.

SCEE Blog Manager Fred Dutton explained on the
EU PlayStation Blog:

“We are aware that users are experiencing some disruption to the PSN service. To minimise the inconvenience we have suspended the ‘redeem voucher’ functionality whilst we investigate further. Unfortunately this means that money cards, product vouchers, PlayStation Plus vouchers, PS3-PS4 upgrade vouchers and any other vouchers for digital content are not redeemable at this stage. Other PSN features such as log-in, online multi-player gaming, PlayStation Plus trial, PS Store (excluding voucher redemption), trophies, messages, friends etc. are all available.”

It is a shame that this is happened but honestly it is to be expected. Unfortunately it seems that some people are not able to get the PS4 Day One update, without this update you can do almost nothing with the system. Apparently even the removal of the ‘redeem voucher’ has not helped much. I’m sure that things will be better tomorrow when less people are trying to set up their PS4.

Let me know in the comments if you are surprised by the PSN problems, Sony’s online network has always been a bit slow in the best so it’s too bad that they didn’t see this coming.
