New Dead Island: Riptide Trailer Shows How It All Went Wrong

Techland’s zombie sequel Dead Island: Riptide has got a brand new trailer just days after it was announced that the game will not be making its way onto the Wii U. Check out the trailer embedded above.

The trailer entitled ‘They Thought Wrong…’ shows off some of the story in Dead Island: Riptide, big surprise… they are on an island and there are zombies. Shocking, I know.

Last week Techland announced that the game would not be on the Wii U due to “engine refinements” here the full quote below:

“One of the opportunities we had for Riptide was to continue the development of the engine, and really improve it and make a lot of refinements, the things that are required to bring something to a new platform, you need to either really get to be integrating it deep into the engine, or you’ve got to a port.

“Neither one of those was a satisfactory outcome for us, so we decided to do what we got platform-wise and just make sure that we can deliver the best experience we can.”

Additionally the game’s pre-order bonuses were also revealed, here’s what you can get for putting down those dollars early:

  • A BBQ Blade: An exclusive weapon that combines a sharp blade with fuel tanks to make a flame-spewing sword.
  • An XP booster: This will essentially make your character level faster for a while.
  • A special shop: Players can access a discount shop that offers big savings on weapons and gear.

Dead Island: Riptide releases on April 26 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
