Mike Capps Leaves Epic Games

Former Epic Games President Mike Capps has officially announced last night via twitter that he is no longer affiliated with the company.

Mike had originally confirmed back in December that he was retiring from the studio and instead taking on an advisory role. He left the following message for all his colleagues late last year:

“I’ve got great confidence in our executive team – VP of Development Paul Meegan is new to our Raleigh HQ, but we’ve worked with him for years, and I can only contemplate this retirement knowing that he and VP of Operations John Farnsworth can manage development better than I ever did.”

Now he is stating that he is no longer involved with the company in any capacity. The tweet below details his comment on the matter:

While this news may not seem like a big deal to many, there is no denying that Epic Games will feel some effects from this later on. After Cliff Bleszinski’s departure and yesterday’s unveiling of the official launch trailer for Gears of War: Judgment, I’ll be very curious to see what the company’s strategy will be moving forward. Will the series become even more watered down with a bunch of unnecessary sequels? Could we potentially see the Gears Franchise make it’s way onto the PlayStation 4? Ultimately, only time will tell how all this pans out in the end.
