More “Fuse Experiences” Coming from Insomniac

Insomniac’s latest game Fuse launched today with a generally positive reception and Insomniac boss Ted Price is already looking at ways to expand from the game.

Price posted over on the Fuse website about the process of changing the game from the original Overstrike they had revealed at E3 and how they can develop new experiences using Fuse as a base.

“For those of you who dig what we do with crazy worlds, characters and weapons…for those of you who check out Fuse and enjoy a co-op romp through a very “Insomniac” game, this is what I have to say: we’re just getting started,” he said.

“We’ve already begun expanding what we’ve begun with Fuse. Right now as I write this we’re taking the core concepts behind Fuse and prototyping new stuff…stuff that leverages this bizarre alien substance which is at the heart of the game. No, I’m not talking about DLC. I’m talking about new Fuse experiences altogether.

“What’s wonderful about creating and owning one’s IP is that you can take it any direction you want. And that’s what we’re going to do. Stay tuned.”

Although Insomniac were heavily criticized for ‘dumbing down’ the game after showing off Overstrike, it is refreshing to see somebody to speak so honestly about one of their own games. I have yet to play the game but I hear that if you have a team of four friends playing together it can be very fun, hopefully they have learnt a few lessons from this release and can focus on delivering an even better experience next time round.
