Pokémon X & Y Get Cloud Storage, Plus Gen 1 Starters

Earlier today Nintendo streamed a Pokémon Direct video (which is embedded above), that brought news of new features to the series and revealed a big surprise!

For the first time in the series as well as starting the game with your choice of the three new starters, you will get an additional starter, your choice of the Gen 1 Pokémon Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. This means that you will get two starters which opens up a whole new realm of tactics for the game, will you mix up Fire and Water? Or double down and have a supreme Grass force? You can do all of these things in X & Y which gets me even more hyped for the game.

Additionally they announced Pokémon Bank, a paid service where you can store your Pokémon to the cloud if you fill up your normal bank spaces, additionally you can use this Bank to transfer you Pokémon from Black, White, Black 2 and White 2 over to the new X & Y. While this seems like a neat idea it definitely is a shame that they are charging for it. This would have been a nice little feature to make life a bit easier, but instead they are trying to make money from it. I’m sure some people will love having the extra storage space but it is not for me. Sorry Nintendo!

Pokémon X & Y releases worldwide on October 12 on the 3DS, let me know in the comments what you think of the two starters and the Pokémon Bank!
