Assassin’s Creed IV DLC Freedom Cry Releasing As Standalone Product

Ubisoft has today announced that it will be releasing ACIV DLC ‘Freedom Cry’ as a standalone downloadable product on the PS3, PS4 and PC.

This version of Freedom Cry releases on February 18 on consoles and Feb 25 on PC, it will not require Assassin’s Creed IV and will cost $14.99, $5 more than it was if you owned the main game.

Polygon has given a nice description of Freedom Cry:

“Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry is set 15 years after the events of Black Flag and features a new hero, the former slave Adewale, who served as the right-hand man toBlack Flag protagonist Edward Kenway. At this point in his life, Adewale has become a trained Assassin himself, and finds himself shipwrecked in Haiti. On his quest to return to the sea, he must help the local population, much of which is mired in the worst slavery seen in the West Indies. Adewale makes an effort to liberate the slaves on Haitian plantations with new weapons like the blunderbuss and machete.”

I like the idea that Ubisoft want to release small downloadable Assassin’s games like this and Liberation, I think having small 5 hour adventures with a new character each time would be great. Ubisoft have not commented on whether the game will be releasing on Xbox consoles but I think it is not looking likely at the moment.

Let me know in the comments if you liked Freedom Cry, is it worth $15?
