It’s a Bit Late to the Party, but Valkyria Chronicles is Coming to PC

UPDATE:

So it turns out that there was indeed a fan demand for a PC port of Valkyria Chronicles.

I was on Twitter beefing about there not being a Valkyria Chronices Collection for the PS3/PS4/PSV when video game website Shift Sprint updated me on the matter. I personally haven’t heard of any demand for a PC port of VC but it turns out there is a movement dubbed #SEGAPCPORTS (because hashtags are all the rage now) which is calling for ports of various Sega titles like Vanquish, Bayonetta, and Virtua Fighter 5. It looks like they got at least one of their demands met by Sega although whether or not Sega decided to port Valkyria Chronicles to PC because of this movement is debatable.

Original Story follows:

One of the best RPGs of the last generation of consoles was Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles. This was a PlayStation 3 exclusive for most of its life but now it will get a (very late) port for the PC.

Sega confirmed this news via Twitter:

While this is great news for some PC gamers who have (shamefully) never played Valkyria Chronicles, it does beg some answers. Namely, why is this game getting a PC port yet PlayStation 3 owners have not gotten a port of Valkyria Chronicles 2 or 3? There hasn’t exactly been much demand from PC gamers for this title but PS3 owners have been asking for its sequels for years.

This is a very strange decision for Sega to take. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that a new audience will get to experience this game (it’s brilliant) but I question the logic behind this. Who knows, maybe this title will be a huge hit on PC and that will spur Sega into releasing a Valkyria Chronicles trilogy on PS3, or better yet, PlayStation 4. This probably won’t happen, but a boy can dream, right?

We’ll bring you more news on this as it develops.
