Assassin’s Creed Movie gets a New Release Date

The Assassin’s Creed movie has been in a sort of production-Hell for a few years now. It was rumored to originally be released on August 07 of this year and even as early as May 22. It seems that now Fox has locked a date for the film according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The new date for the Assassin’s Creed movie is December 21, 2016. The movie will be directed by Australian independent film maker Justin Kurzel and will star Michael Fassbender who audiences know best for his role as Magneto in the last two X-Men films. According to reports, two new writers have been brought on board to re-draft the script.

We still don’t know any specifics about the movie. Fassbender will no doubt play the titular assassin but WHICH assassin is still anyone’s guess. If the rumor of Robert Downey Jr. playing Leonardo da Vinci is true, then it would suggest that Fassbender would be playing Ezio Auditore. This would make sense considering that Ezio is the most popular protagonist in the series but again, this is just speculation based on a rumor.

We’ll have more news on the Assassin’s Creed movie as it develops.
