/// Report: Nintendo to ship 10-12 Million NX Units in 2016; Mass Production Starting at the End of the First Quarter 2016!

Nintendo’s new game console is scheduled to enter mass production at the end of the first quarter 2016 and despite the fact that the Japan-based company is targeting to ship 20 million units in 2016, the device’s upstream component suppliers expect shipments to only reach around 10-12 million units. Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) reportedly has been chosen to manufacture the device, but the company declined to comment on its clients or orders.

The new console is estimated to enter mass shipments in the second quarter. In addition to Foxconn, suppliers such as Foxconn Technology, Macronix, Pixart Imaging, Coxon Precise Industrial, Nishoku Technology, Delta Technology, Lingsen Precision Industries and Jentech will also supply components for the device.

Digitimes Research expects Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4 to achieve shipments of 13 and 18 million units, respectively in 2016, and if Nintendo’s new console is able to ship 10 million units in the year, the company will then be able to maintain its competitiveness in the market.

/// Free-to-play Version of PES 2016 Announced, Coming December!

Starting December 8th, those who haven’t yet experienced PES 2016, this year’s highest rated football title for home gaming consoles, will be able to download a free, entry level version of the game which boasts an Exhibition Mode complete with the choice of 7 teams including Bayern Munich, Juventus, AS Roma, Brazil and France. There is also a full Training section and the popular myClub feature. This version will allow new users to experience PES 2016’s online and offline play, and unlimited access to the myClub mode wherein players use accrued in-game currency and micro-transactions to build a title-winning team.

myClub offers an incredible level of depth to PES 2016, and allows players to build a team of world stars. The myClub option has been massively improved since its launch last year, with player level systems, and key players exclusive to the mode. Players can use points acquired through success in matches, or with myClub coins, to experience realistic club management to develop a squad. The myClub rosters and stats are also updated on a weekly basis. More competitions, events and campaigns are constantly added, with players choosing their manager, recruiting coaches, developing playing styles and building a long-term strategy based on their specific aims. Build Your Team, Create Your Legacy!

PES 2016 was released on the back of unrivalled strong reviews praising its on-field action and realism, and became the first series to win the coveted ‘Best Sports Game’ award at gamescom, Europe’s largest consumer gaming event, for two years running. The free-to-play edition offers a perfect overview of the game’s stunning levels of control, and realistic interpretations of both teams and players via the Player ID and Team ID systems that ensure both play like their real-life counterparts.

The free-to-play edition will also be compatible with all future gameplay and content updates throughout the entire PES 2016 season updating automatically ensuring rosters are up to date and that PES 2016’s many stars are aligned to the form of their real-life counterparts.

/// Microsoft and Square Enix “very happy” with Rise of the Tomb Raider!

Speaking to fans on the unofficial Tombraiderforums, game director Brian Horton said the suggestion that sales numbers reflect poorly on the development team is not true. “I didn’t mean to go off topic or patronize, but there was suggestion in the thread that the reported sales numbers reflect poorly on the dev team. Square [Enix]/Microsoft are happy with Crystal [Dynamics] and Eidos Montreal and the game itself. As to the topic of sales, I’m unqualified to discuss it so I won’t have anything else to say on this thread,” he said.

/// Quantic Dream: “No Plan” for Beyond: Two Souls Sequel, They Don’t Want to Make the Same Game Ten Times!

After revealing that Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe were his first choices for the roles – and that he had no second choices – Cage talked about the potential for Beyond: Two Souls 2:

No, there is no plan at the moment for a sequel to Beyond: Two Souls. We love starting new ideas and exploring different directions game after game. I know this is quite unusual in the industry, but we don’t want to make the same game ten times, or feel too comfortable only doing things we know. We love the excitement of new risks to take, new things to try, new crazy ideas to explore; and see how our fans and the community will react.

Asked if there was anything he would change or add in Beyond: Two Souls if he had the opportunity, Cage said changing a game after launch compromises the sincerity of the work:

Actually, I don’t like to revisit my work afterwards. The game is what it is because I was who I was while I made it. It is like a Polaroid of yourself at one point in your life, you may want to change the picture, but it won’t change who you were. I have this kind of integral version of my work; I put a lot of myself in every project and my approach is always genuine and sincere. Changing a game afterwards would compromise the sincerity of the work.
