/// Overwatch PS4 and Xbox One Pop Up on Battle.net, Launching Spring 2016!

A new Overwatch interim page on Battle.net shows the heavily-rumoured PS4 and Xbox One versions alongside a boxed PC release. The physical release appears to be called the Origins Edition, perhaps to differentiate it from the digital version; we still don’t know if there’s a free-to-play option.

An exhortation to pre-order is accompanied by a footnote establishing an “expected release date” on or before June 21 2016. Pre-ordering nets players a Noir skin for Widowmaker, but the pre-order page isn’t live yet. | Source

/// Gravity Rush 2 Director Talks Multiplayer, New Combat Modes and More!

Toyama said that the developers will be able to “a number of new things” in the upcoming game, thanks to the PS4’s hardware. “This is a great platform, so we can develop and make use of incredible techniques,” he said. Although the controls are similar to the first game, two new combat modes have been added due to popular demand but Toyama didn’t go into any details about them.

The previous title only had Normal mode, which was rather simple and linear. But many players have asked us to add something new. So we added two new modes. But the controls are roughly similar. You will be able to use the same commands, but other actions as well. You will be able to choose how to fight the way you want.

However, Toyama did tease asynchronous multiplayer for Gravity Rush 2.

As far as a multiplayer mode goes, the gravity actions would be far too limited. So we decided to eliminate that downright. But we’re preparing several gimmicks that connect you with friends in an asynchronous manner. These will be announced later.

Speaking about the possibility of PlayStation VR version, Toyama said that the developer isn’t working on that specifically, but the team has been working on a VR prototype that “works very well.”

For now, we don’t expect to make a version of the game for PlayStation VR. But the team has been working on a prototype for virtual reality and it works very well. I’m finding this new platform to be very interesting. You should keep an eye on it.

/// N++ Developer Hopes to Include It as a PlayStation Plus Free Game, Sony Hasn’t Approached Them Yet!

Replying to a user who suggested a big PlayStation Plus discount, Metanet revealed that they hope to include N++ in the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection one day:

We’re hoping to see N++ as a PS+ monthly game at some point, but currently the Sony Store team hasn’t approached us about it; their tastes and strategies change, so we’re hoping that eventually it will make sense for them to offer us a PS+ deal — maybe later once the game has been out for a while.

/// Third-Party Partnerships Will Continue to Be “Really Important in 2016,” Says PlayStation Europe Boss!

With PS4’s library set to become a far stronger offering in 2016 – Street Fighter V, Uncharted 4 and No Man’s Sky are all among the highly-anticipated console exclusives set for release on the machine – Sony might be forgiven for scaling back its reliance on third-party marketing deals and promotions.

But that won’t be the case, says PlayStation’s European president Jim Ryan.

“We are going to be strong with games that we have developed and we will publish, but third-party partnerships will continue to be important to us,” he told MCV.

“The days of a platform holder working in isolation are long-gone.

“It is a connected ecosystem and relationships with publishers operate on many levels – they will certainly continue to be really important in 2016.” | Source
