HoloLens Project Designer Dead After Hit-and-Run Incident

We’re sad to report that Mike Ey, who was the Project Designer for Microsoft’s HoloLens Augmented Reality technology is dead at 30 following a drunk driving hit-and-run incident in Redmond, WA.

Redmond officials say that Robert Malsch was going over 100mph when he rear-ended Mike Ey’s car. He fled from the scene but was later apprehended by the police. He is now facing vehicular homicide and felony hit and run charges. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.

Friends and family members of Ey are understandably distraught over his untimely passing. “He was the most reliable person ever,” said Kelley Piering who was Ey’s girlfriend. “You could ask him anything and he would make sure it got done, whether he knew how to do it or not.”

As for how Ey felt about HoloLens, Piering said “He said it was the coolest thing ever,” and that “It’s looking at the future while holding the present. Mike said it wasn’t perfect but it was going to be one day.”

This is yet another case of a life being cut short due to drunk driving. We should all remember to drink responsibly to avoid causing this to ourselves and to anyone. We send our condolences to Mike Ey’s family and loved ones.
