LUPend | Is Lupe Fiasco on a farewell tour in 2016?

In 2015, Lupe Fiasco finished up his label run tenure with Album of the Year candidate Tetsuo & Youth. He then started the engines on his independent career, following that album up with a Mixtape of the Year release with Pharaoh Height. Since then, Lupe has been very active on Twitter and sprinkling in hints about his upcoming work. The tweet above from December detailed the title of the three full albums he plans to release this year alone. Of course some are skeptical of this news, but I don’t foresee any issue considering he’s not managed by a label anymore. On today, though, Lupe tweeted out something that could be disappointing to many loyal fans…

I suggest we all take this with a grain of salt. If I’ve learned anything while following Lupe on twitter, it’s that he wastes no words and is very literal. He could possible continue his music career with just mixtapes and EPs. Roy could be Lupe Fiasco’s last album and the artist could move forward with his birth name or another title. Who knows. Regardless, 2016 is looking to be another incredible year for music. If this is his farewell tour, I expect a year like no other artist has had in Hip Hop. I’m very happy to have Lupe back in prime form and can’t wait to see what’s next. Hit the comment section and share your thoughts.
