Sony Patents New DualShock 4 Controller With New Buttons

Sony has patented a new PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller that has some changes over the current controller.

The patent shows the new controller features two new buttons on the underside of the controller. This is similar to the four paddles that are on the Xbox One Elite controller. The Start and Share buttons have been moved below the D-Pad on the left and the button on the right.

The new controller could be for the upgraded PlayStation 4, codenamed Neo, which according to reports will launch later this year.

The patent also shows an image of another DualShock 4 controller that moves the analogue sticks to the top of the controller and moves the D-Pad and main buttons down.

Whether or not this controller sees the light of day is anyone’s guess, but it’s likely. This controller has not yet been announced or shown off by Sony themselves, so, if you like it, here’s hoping you’ll get to own one someday.
