In a press release today from Nintendo, the company gave information about new amiibo support coming to some of its newer titles. Games included in the press release featured new incoming titles like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, and Mario & Sonic At the Rio 2016 Olympics.
One game mentioned towards the very end was Star Fox Zero. The game, which was rumored to have been delayed, has been confirmed in the press release to be coming out on April 22, 2016.
The press release also revealed that Nintendo plans to have amiibo functionality implemented into the game. There is no word on what kind of functionality this may be, but Nintendo promised to reveal more details later. There is a Nintendo Direct presentation planned for February, which could reveal more info about this. We played Star Fox Zero at E3 2015 and had thoughts about how the game was coming out in our hands-on preview.

Star Fox Zero delivers a new beginning for the classic shooter series. With a unique control scheme that uses both the TV screen and the screen on the GamePad, players pilot multiple vehicles through intergalactic levels with Fox and his classic crew. The game launches exclusively for Wii U on April 22 and will feature amiibo compatibility. More details will be revealed at a later time.
