Overwatch: Tips For Using Every Character

Tips for Soldier 76

Soldier 76

Role: Offense
Summary: Soldier 76 is a vigilante who targets the enemies that brought down his former organization. In-game he’s the most consistent damage dealer due to his automatic heavy pulse rifle. Soldier 76 is the ideal character for newcomers to Overwatch, but don’t downplay overall effectiveness because of that fact.

Soldier 76 Tips

  • Soldier 76’s Biotic Field can heal both him and his allies, so never be stingy with this ability. Try to spot healers who may be in danger and drop a Biotic Field for them. If you keep your healers alive, they will keep you alive
  • The longer you fire your pulse rifle, the more your bullets spread, making the latter shots less accurate. It can be more effective to fire this weapon off in tight, controlled bursts – particularly against enemies at a distance
  • Working the Helix Rockets into your regular stream of offense can help you seal the deal on kills. As mentioned before, your first stream of shorts from the Pulse Rifle are the most accurate, so you could try unloading a few shots at an enemy before blasting them with a Helix Rocket to ensure they go down. Remember, the Helix Rockets have a cooldown of 8 seconds
  • Combining Soldier 76’s Sprint with a jump and a Helix Rocket to the floor can help boost him up to higher levels of the map. This may require some practice, and you can get a visual of this technique here.

Using Tactical Visor

  • As with McCree’s Deadeye, you should try to catch enemies off guard with Tactical Visor as it can be countered in many ways
  • Tactical Visor will reset the Pulse Rifle’s ammo, meaning you can unload some of your clip at your targets before triggering the Tactical Visor without having to reload
