Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV is set to be shown in theaters on August 19, 2016, with a digital release on August 30th and Blu-Ray on October 4th. The story of the film is set parallel to the events of Final Fantasy XV, but will focus on a different set of characters related to the world of the game.
We got the chance to speak with the director of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Takeshi Nozue, and Lead Writer/Localization Director, Dan Inoue, in an exclusive interview about the film. Dan gave us some interesting details about what surprises Final Fantasy fans can expect, as well as what to get excited about when seeing the film. Takeshi also gave some insight into the production of Kingsglaive and how everything came together to help create an original story set in the world of Final Fantasy XV.
The kingdom of Lucis is in great danger from the empire of Niflheim. King Regis of Lucis (voiced by Sean Bean) commands an elite force of soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Nyx (voiced by Aaron Paul) and his fellow soldiers fight to protect Lucis and their king. However, King Regis is forced to to marry his son, Prince Noctis to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae (voiced by Lena Headey), and surrender his lands to Niflheim. With so much at stake, only the Kingsglaive stand between Niflheim and world domination.
