Xenoblade Chronicles Heads to New 3DS; Won’t be Compatible with Current 3DS

Today, Nintendo announced that a new model of the 3DS will be hitting Japan on October 11. This announcement was made during a Japanese only Nintendo Direct. During this event, it was also announced that the formerly Wii only title, Xenoblade Chronicles, would be getting released for the new system.

As the title of this post says, this game will only be playable on the new 3DS. Since the system has more internal power, it can handle the game whereas the current model of the 3DS cannot. Apparently, Nintendo has wanted to port the game over to the 3DS for some time now but were unable due to hardware limitations.

There is no word yet on when the new 3DS and Xenoblade Chronicles will be released in North America. When we hear something, we’ll let you guys know.
