For flight simulations Russia is most important with Eagle Dynamics, Maddox Games and NeoQB/777 Studios originating from there. In addition there is Graviteam and Akella who both have very strong presences regarding tank and naval simulations.

The Czech Republic is also important with BI-Studios providing the dominant land combat simulation and the Silent Hunter series produced from there.

Western Europe and North America produce almost no simulations whatsoever and have almost entirely abandoned this niche market.

Sound like an idiot. You need to learn about averaging. Just because Nintendo is relevant in a foreign location doesn't mean it cancels out all the other relevant items. And stop combining all regions against North America; U.S. to be more specific.

Surely publishers have a bigger marketing budget in the whole of Europe or Asia though, because they're bigger regions with a bigger population than North America, or S. America, or Australia & New Zealand. I think whether they're bigger gaming markets is a different thing though, and there's no reliable numbers to go by so no way of telling. I think what is a fact though, is that US and Canada are one of the biggest game making countries (along with UK and Japan). Except there is VGChartz, which must be quite reliable.

– Pretty much hit the nail on the head right there. That's why I think this whole idea of one region being the most relevant in the whole industry makes litle sense. At the end of the day, different games sell better/worse in different parts of the world.
