over hyped doesn't mean over rated… don't get them confused

i have M.A.G and its a fun, solid game thats worthy of retail price for its longevity and multiplayer. though, i never thought it would topple call of duty. i think that was more anticipation for what it could do, especially when zipper Int. hadnt been seen on consoles for quite sometime.

Too Human was overhyped for being a solid action/adventure game that would rival God war. but what killed it was execution and the targeting. plus, gears was on the horizon if i can recall so it came blown off. Similar to how Section 8 was released within weeks of ODST.

ODST was hype since it was the first entry of Halo to not involve master-chief and to involve a new story in between the chapters as well as play a different kind of character. What hurt this game was that it shoudlve been released as a DLC title for $20. The campaign was incredibly short for a halo game. and the only new content feature was firefight and 3 new multiplayer maps. i guess if your a 360 owner who never EVER played halo, it was worthy of a full price. but for those tha thave, and thats a lot, this game wasnt worth the full price. since it used the halo 3 engine, this couldve easily been a DLC game, kind of like Section 8. (Section 8 was an orbital drop FPS on the 360. it was made available on PSN for $30 a few weeks ago. a lot of people on PSN are playing it now)

LBP- well, i didnt look at this with hype but anticipation for what it was going to do. i can say that there was a level of hype surrounding it and yeah, the hype shpudlve boosted sales performance in the opening days.

Dark Void- Same thing. it looked good and i would play it anyways. I have it and its a solid game. i feel that theres some potential missing and there was a bit of a learning curve for the game to grow on you. but once you get into it and get the survivor missions, its a fun game. ( and i wish they would release zero on Playstation network already! WTF!?)

though theres one game missing from this list- Haze. i was on a Disney internship in Florida in 2008. i looked at this game with anticipation and when i came home that summer, i went to my local best by and picked it up for $40. What followed was one of the worst games I have ever played. enjoyable for 20 minutes nd then it just got bland, repetitive, annoying, and just no thought. the multiplayer sucked. if your still thinking about getting that game, i turned it in for $$ that fall and it was only worth $5.

oh and L4D2- when you make a sequel or put the number 2 after a title, you need to greatly expand, improve, and increase a game potential without compromising the core gameplay. so this game didnt compromise gameplay. but al they did was add some weapons, three new enemies,and some maps for $60. that sit and thats a ripoff.

oh and Forza 3. its a solid game but mainly because the devs and microsoft were being @$$holes and d-bags for hyping their game to be the greatest thing since portable CD players and starting the gran turismo 5 flame war which is completely unnecessary.

Thats my point. When my ppl on my friends list turn of COD,Gears & Halo to play 2-D patforms i will call you ok lol.

Mario is the only 2-d platformer that can even rock no-a-days

Assassin's Creed – Decent game, got boring quickly. Sequel was amazing though.

Haze – Well, it's shit.

Borderlands – Wasn't hyped loads but I found it quite disappointing myself; it was just too bland.

Soul Calibur IV – This was a pile of crap really. I didn't need a complete overhaul but some changes would have been nice.

Gears of War 2 – I think it's a good game but, like SCIV, it was too similar to it's predecessor.

I definitely agree with Too Human, Dark Void (Though, this wasn't hyped up that much) and MAG.

Yes, over its lifetime as a potential game, Too Human saw about 10 years development. However a majority of this was for various different consoles, engines, art styles and even settings. It was originally supposed to be a cyberpunk shooter on the PS1 for god sake.

I just really wish people would stop saying that this game was in production for 10 years. For the version we wound up with on the Xbox 360 it was 3 to 4 years tops. Thats not really any longer than any other tripple A game given all the trouble the studio experienced during production.

Every game ever has right side of the scren, and depending on the genre it will literally be to go right or it ould represent some other goal or form of right. Start thinking before you troll.

What are you talking about?? before the game was release there was crazy hype around saying it will be a system seller, Goty, what the ps3 needs…

I admit I was a halo fan for a good year or so, but even though I rid myself of it (due to not wanting to pay for maps & hating to be kept out of the game types I loved cause of it), I'm extremely amazed that even today at any given time you can still an ample amount of players playing online. Sure there was a train load of hype about the game (that I also admit, got me to buy the game on day 1), but even for me, it lived up to it's hype after the first few months of incredible flawless online matches. I was surprised buy how level the playing field was, how the rankings actually worked, how glitch free the game was, and how I could play it for hours upon hours without getting bored. It's of course a different story today, but I do believe halo 3 lived up to it's hype. I don't regret that $60 purchase.

Now ODST on the other hand… I'm glad I didn't fork anything out for that game. I was tempted to buy it a few weeks back to get in on the reach action, but with RDR coming out I'm sure that journey would have be short lived and not worth the price of the disk.

Joe I gotta 100 % disagree with you. The hype from LBP got you writing like you are. This game was suppose 2 be so great so innovative blah blah.What is it? It's a 2d side scroller where you edit levels wow. Do many ppl have design skill like miyamoto? Nope so only thing wow'n you is the ill background i.e contra or mario level.

At the end of the day your goal is to get to the right side of the screen once ppl figured that out they turned that off and went to play metal gear or a real game.

Sometimes hype will make you think your enjoying a game. LBP and Gears are perfect examples IMO
