I think the strategy is idiotic. The "DLC" is actually content that used to be included on the disc, they are not unbundling it and closing off multiplayer to devalue the used market. This strategy is bad because they are screwing over the people that would pay full retail and then sell the game in order to fuel more new purchases. The multiplayer experience is lost because less people will play than when it was free or just the Xbox Live subscription, hurting the new players as well. Finally, it effectively decreases the biggest disincentive to pirating video games - multiplayer access. If people who buy used no longer have access to multiplayer, the risk of an Xbox Live ban for using a modded device becomes trivial.

So let's sum this up: you devalue your product's resale value for the folks willing to have paid full retail by crippling content and multiplayer access, further devalue the product by killing off the used game market, and remove the sting of perhaps the major stick against software piracy/console hacking. Your goal is to make the console market look like the piracy infested PC market. Brilliant.

I hate WWE and THQ... every year I say I don't want Smackdown. But then they show some shit that makes me want to buy it.

That WWE Universe mode sounds like what the games have been missing the past few years.
