The Wii is competing in the last generation. It has last generation specs and therefore competes in the last generation. The WiiHD will join and compete in this generation (5 years late to the party, of course).

Please Nintendo, commit sepaku now …. and do it quick. Join Sega and wallow in mediocrity in the land of forgotten consoles.

But that casual crowd will not run out and buy the next Wii. That is not how they work. They don’t live for gaming as we do. The Wii was a fad and served two purposes quite successfully:

– collect dust in homes so that it can be swiffered
– introduce motion gaming to that Microsoft and Sony can take the ball and run with it.

Now, the only thing left for Nintendo to do is to go the way of Sega.

The console is doomed from the starting gate. This console can barely compete in the current generation. This is NOT, repeat NOT a next generation console by any means. I wish the Nintentards would quit acting like this heralds the next generation. Remembering that all the casual gamers will NOT, repeat NOT, run out and buy it like they did for the Wii (due to the then unique motion controllers). That fad has worn off and been duplicated (Sony) and innovated (Microsoft) already. Grandma is not going to buy another Nintentard console, she doesn’t know what E3 is, or read Nintentard Magazine, nor watch X-Play on G4TV. LIke with the 3DS, expect very low sales numbers very quickly after the hardcore Mariotards have purchased it.

Seriously, no HD storage?!?! WTF were they thinking. The Japanese really don’t get it, do they? At least Sony has become somewhat more Western in their thinking.

So why are PSP sales destroying 3DS sales? Hmm……

I don’t think it will be anything for Sony and MS to worry about myself. The most that will happen is that third party developers will create the games for the new nintendo system as well as the PS3 and 360.

I understand that they need to do something because Wii is losing steam. But this wont do much for them.

Everything we know about the Wii successor or whatever it is amounts to absolutely nothing. Everything is simply rumor and speculation, and until we hear some solid information at E3 I’m pretty sure everyone talking about what it can, can’t, will, and won’t do is talking out of their ass. Personally, I’m excited, if for no other reason than we haven’t had a new console in 6 years, and I will give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt until I hear contrary.

Lets not forget, the reason why Nintendo made the Wii in the first place was because they couldn’t compete with Sony.They already tried twice and failed.

Just because Nintendo can sell 100 million Wii’s doesn’t automatically mean their next console will be a success, especially if it caters to a completely different market.

I don’t want to buy a 2012 console that is as powerful as my 2006 PS3, I want a console that feels a whole generation past that.

Exactly, The wii has sold so many units over the last few years because Nintendo have aimed it at family's and non gamers, but just recently all the hype has run out and Nintendo have tried to re-capture the gaming market in the last 6 months and have failed because the hardware in the wii isn't designed for gamers in mind. That's one of reason's why Nintendo are releasing this new console.
