I was really excited about the Kollection, especially since I loved MK9 and I was a die hard MK fan as a kid (I still own my 1,2,3 and U3 genesis cartridges lol). However, after doing an arcade playthrough of the first game, I just feel like the game didn’t age well at all.

I remember playing MK2 on PSN ages ago when it was a $5 USD title on the store and it was fine and enjoyable, but 1…no thanks.

I’ll see how I feel about it when I get home today. I plan to play through MK2 and UMK3 tonight.

BTW, I’m actually surprised that the netcode is worse than in MK9. It sounds like they didn’t even beta test it.

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate that there are mixed opinions on this. As you can see my colleague has also done a second opinion, which shows you that the response to this Kollection is pretty much split down the middle. I didn’t base my score on the fact that this makes me want to play MK9 at all, the game has a number of bugs that make the experience unplayable, the main one being the online.

I think maybe I could have been more descriptive on that so I apologize. I thank you for all your opinions though.

In reply to James. The problem is not just the online play. There are sound glitches, and music hiccups that constantly repeat.. Releasing this game now was a mistake considering, it's not finished. Shame on Ed Boon, NRS, and it's 2nd rate developer.

Holy shit its an old game, you review this game as if it just fucking came out today. Give it a break. The online does suck yes, finding a match is terrible but really I bought this to relive the experience I had playing the 3 in the arcades. Setting the filter to Arcade and Cabinet give you that good old arcade feeling and a ton of memories for me.

Um, yes MK1 is TERRIBLE, but we love it as it is classic! I have it on SNES and MKII. i never liked UMK3, too much running and cheapness.
