SNES had Zelda 3, which was definitely addictive.  I still play that game from time to time.  However, the Sega Genesis had the better version of Mortal Kombat, and I loved Mortal Kombat.  Also, Sonic was very fun.  I found Sonic more fun than Mario in those glory days, but Sonic, as they mentioned in the podcast, did not stand the test of time.  In my opinion, Mario was getting stale the moment Super Mario Sunshine came out.

Vector Man was actually a good game for its time, as well.  I thought it was a cool tech demo for a game animation style.  I also loved Comix Zone.  Finally, Sword of Vermilion was awesome.  SEGA won the battle, but Nintendo won the war.

 If SNES was superior hardware, the processor would have to be superior, but according to what you said, the Genesis was superior in terms of speed, which means its hardware is superior.  You contradicted yourself.

Actually Genesis had MORE processing power and played the multi-platform games SMOOTHER and it was FASTER. The games that were on both systems were always chosen on Genesis and rated higher in magazines. I’m 35 years old and have owned every system that has ever been released. Used to collect games and work as a beta and Q&A tester.

It’s hard to ask players that didn’t grow up with the systems what the differences are. The opinion of todays gamers of systems released in 1988. And for the record, People buy the shit out of Sega Games on Steam. Vectorman has received ratings from 4.8/5 to 7.7/10 or better and awards. Between the 2 systems, Genesis was the best for RPGs and had more and higher rated RPG’s released on it. As well as it was the 1st system to incorporate CD media and double it’s processing with the 32X. The system itself, blows away the Super NES in options, speed and capability. People can argue all day about what games they like over the other, that’s simply a persons opinionated preference.   

I thought I was going to hear something here that was informative in the debate, That one guy talked to much shit and had nothing to really say to back up his side of the Super NES, while they other guy stayed on topic and had more appropriate things to say, I bet neither of them brought with them an outline for discussion and there were’t any categories to go through. Really nothing got accomplished. 

You need to add some guidelines some timed outline flow to the debate and keep shit on topic. That was a bitch-fest more than a debate. Not a way to win a debate or get your point across, just a way to sound like complete buffoons. Clean it up or this segment won’t last very long.

 I think it was difficult for me to argue that one console was better than the other when I don’t feel that way. My point in this whole thing was that I grew up on Sega and didn’t have much access to Nintendo, which gave me a preference by default.

I prefer the Sega Megadrive because that’s what I know. And I don’t believe that’s because I wasn’t loved. We weren’t rich.

And you’re right I could have brought up more Megadrive games, I had Phantasy star on my mind but didn’t get to drop it because the conversation had moved on.

 If it wasn’t for Nintendo you would not be playing Playstation,Xbox or Dreamcast, Nintendo is the blueprint of gaming success and the one every other company respects the most due to their longevity, look around Sega fanswhere is your console?…exactly.

SNES had better games, that’s a FACT! Mario World, DKC 1-3, Killer Instinct, superior Street Fighter games, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Mario Kart, Mario RPG, Zelda, I can go on forever…SNES was more powerful and had MORE games, that’s a FACT!

I think this episode could have been better though, Gary didn’t represent the Genesis like he could have. He made no mention of Contra Hard Corps, X-Men, Aladdin and Phantasy Star… just to name a few. And was caught up on the subject of who is a more credible gamer (which Ed is since he’s played a wider variety of games)I’m looking forward to hearing more episodes of Versus in the future though. Keep it up!
