Wow, coincidental article here. Yesterday I was just thinking about the switch I’ve made, and see this article and comments show it’s not just me.

Though I do say repetition and lack of innovation could honestly generalize over gaming rather than console gaming, but you do cover no innovation in console hardware.

Console games…just don’t get my attention like they used to. If they do, it’s usually multi-platform and available for PC – and as you said, probably cheaper.

This was a GREAT read and I’m glad you shared your opinions on the matter. I’m def going to get into PC gaming at some point.. possibly next gen. For now i got way too many games to finish in my backlog.

The whole point of this article was that it was an opinion. The title of the article is “Five Reasons I Dislike Gaming In 2012” which is in no way meant to be a generalization.

If I said “Five Reasons Consoles Suck In 2012” it would be different, and you would have a valid point.

I can agree with this statement to some degree, but it also seems like this guy really don’t know what games to get. If Max Payne was the only game you liked this year, your a sad excuse for a gamer. My friend who is a hardcore Max Payne lover didn’t even fuck with it, that’s saying something.

Really nice article right here. I think you make some really valid points. I also think it says a lot that year-by-year console gaming imitates more of the things that started in PC gaming. I also really think it’s difficult to find as much value in consoles, even though getting an adequate gaming PC might be pricey, in the longterm you’re probably going to spend less and get more out of it.

People get too hooked on their console exclusives though, which is too bad. I do think there is quite a bit of value in console gaming that you really can’t find in conventional PC gaming though, such as split screen or local multiplayer, most sports games, etc. Maybe one day there will just be one super gaming manufacturer or something, haha.
