On PC you can do practically anything and you can play old games as much as you want. Even tough I am a PC gamer I’ll get PS4 soonish. There are some games like Final Fantasy and NHL that I want to play with it. Also getting Netflix and Youtube on my TV screen is a big plus.

Ps. Shooters on consoles are the biggest joke ever.

I can’t say I disbelieve you, this extended console cycle seems to have extended the relevance of older PC builds and graphics cards while the mainstream developers seemed to have focused more on optimizing their PC games and aiming for decent console versions instead of trying to be the next challenger for the benchmark champions Crysis/Battlefield/F.E.A.R title.

So why don’t you build the exact same rig for 800, and buy the 500 console as well?

My midrange build runs everything on max, and I haven’t made any upgrades to it since I put it together in 2009. Only people who don’t have extensive knowledge about this sort of technology think that they need new gear each year.

I will buy a PS4 some time next year, my kids love it.
But any serious die hard gamer already game on a PC or is planning on dropping consoles and make the move in the near future.

Because lets face it PC offers so much more for free and less expensive games that you earn your money back in tenfold over a year.

Pc gammes might cost less depending on where you bought them. If you don’t collect games and live in the US, sure, steam may have good sales…
Free to play games are generally bad, with few exceptions.
Gaming tournaments are better on consoles – it’s cheaper to set up and will get a stronger viewership (ex: EVO – MK or Street Fighter, etc…)
