Sony is a large company that has been losing money for a long time (pretty much a decade). The breakup is about transparency, so that the entertainment end could be valued around it's true worth, but the flipside to that is the electronics side is going to suffer because they've been the source of Sony's losses. And the mitigating circumstances of weak Vita sales and a new console launch would make the Playstation look bad if they did it this financial year.

The worst case scenario for fans here is not Sony going down as a company. It would be Sony abandoning gaming, and let's face it, this has always been a possibility for them since they are not a solely gaming oriented business.

Rather than go on blind faith, it would make more sense to be more informed on what's going on at Sony. Playstation's effective marketing campaign does its fans a disservice when it blinds them.

The Sony breakup is looking to be a POSITIVE move for the entertainment division. Sony is a large company that has been doing this for a long time. I highly doubt they'd compromise themselves with some harebrained scheme doughboy.

Sorry to see a lot of fans hyping themselves up for PS4 launch. Have you guys been reading the news lately? The Sony breakup could compromise it's Playstation division, especially now that it's in the middle of a next-gen transition. You guys are going to get the rug pulled from under you if you don't pay attention to what happens outside the hyposphere.

Yeah, I know, not sure about PS3 continued support being the most positive thing for Sony. Or devoting more resources to it. Despite it being touted as a future proof and longer term system. A portion of PS2 owners were raged to have to be upgrading to PS3. And now as PS3 has had a late uptake by its consumers, I'm thinking the transition for PS3 goers to hit PS4 will be even longer, possibly leaving it behind again. And Sony cannot afford PS4 not selling. They invested mass amounts of resources into it. It has to be successful in its early life. Not too much later

Also. Sony seems to planning a big push for Vita and won't end support for PS3 (evident from Gran Turismo 6 being on that console).

Obviously everything is speculation at this point, but you're really not giving Sony much credit. Starting a year behind, the PS3 was consistently improving over time which allowed it to eventually surpass the Xbox in sales. The PSN and Playstation Plus are prime examples of that. I expect Sony to have learned from the previous battle and to adapt well. That goes for price point, release date, online capability, etc.

In response to the Tomb Raider statement, its sad that that is considered a failure, but thats even more reason to focus on great console exclusives. As a business, its a smarter move if marketed correctly. As a consumer, you get a better experience with titles better utilized to take advantage of the particular console's tech.

And its true Microsoft has more money. Much more. Look at how much they make on Xbox Live alone. But will they spend it? What will they do about the obvious benefits of Blu-ray? Will they continue to charge for Xbox Live? I doubt PSN will have a required sub model. I expect the Playstation Plus model to continue.

Sony is a far cry from winning up front. They've hyped everything just like they did PS3. Even PS3 was taking the media by storm in it's pre-launch days. That didn't turn out so legendary. Sony still have yet to reveal the most important aspects of PS3. It's still set to likely have the highest price points (not just the launch unit, but new higher end controllers, and maybe higher cost games, maybe even new online subscription based services)

Like the PS3 with it's awe inspiring tech demo's i.e., the spider man movie recreate and the physics based air craft hanger flood, PS4 is still a certain way off proving that it's games will look, and play just like they have been shown at the initial reveals. And even if they do, yet to prove that performance wise it'll be any significant difference between 720 performance.

Launch date is another shoddy one, WiiU is out and about, albeit slowly, but they're dealing with all their kinks in the meantime, they will start accelerating next holiday. PS4 is rumoured possibly to only launch in a territory or 2 this holiday (like PS3). A few extra months or more in remaining territories may not be a viable proposition for PS4 to gain the required traction.
Lest not forget the argument of high-profile games becoming lesser and lesser profitable. Top ranking Tomb Raider with sales in the millions a failure? How will pristine peak production titles on PS4 be any much more viable for devs? Surely they can't release CoDs forever before ppl start tiring of em
PS4 is truly living in a world of hype right now. Pure and utter hype. M'soft has more money and have everything to reveal, and you can sure bet they won't stand aside and let Sony take the cake. They will come in brute force taking Sony head on. Will they out match em? don't know, but Sony will certainly lose sales and popularity to them.
And WiiU, Nintendo still haven't dished out one of their major franchises yet, and they got a hellava lot of em on the way. And the gamepad functionality hasn't been scratched yet. Wait till Pokémon for Nintendo to rake in the millions and fan-base, and a new Metroid to out review probably some of the best titles PS4/720 may ever have.

PS4 has one confirmed detail at this point. It's got a massive battle to take on its hands and their competitors won't let em walk into victory. For all intents and purposes PS4 is down 3 million systems on WiiU and WiiU still has approx. 5 months before PS4 even show up. That's not good evidence PS4 has already won the next-gen

Now we need to create more confusions for Xbox fans so they shall not believe in Microsoft anymore. Our sheeps on N4G are committed to steer people's attention away from May 21st and to keep positive Xbox news off the headlines.

Sony is the only one to believe, competitors are not needed. Sony is here to rule without competition, to become the greatest Japanese company in the world. NO CRITICISM IS ALLOWED, we don't accept any negativity, we only accept your money.
