Wow, this is so much wrong with this article that I don’t even
know where to begin. There’s a huge difference between games that are
influenced by hiphop and games that feature hiphop on their soundtracks. Being
influenced by hiphop implies that the game would not exist in its current form
were it not for hiphop music and its culture.

The Need For Speed series as of late has been influenced by Fast
& Furious, not hiphop. Tony Hawk is influenced by the sport and the
punk/rock lifestyle, They merely just features a few rap songs for people who
like that shit. True Crime: LA, are you talking about the franchise or that one
specific game? Either way, it’s more inspired by urban stereotypes than hiphop
music and Sleeping Dogs is just another True Crime game with a different title.

NBA 2K is a stupid choice, its not influenced by hiphop, again
its based on a sport. Jay-Z executive producing the soundtrack for 2K13 is
merely a business decision since most people who play/watch Basketball also
like hiphop music. NBA Street would have been a far superior choice as those
games fully embrace the hiphop culture.

The Scarface game is influenced by hiphop? Is that a joke?
Seriously, that is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. It’s influenced by
a movie, not a genre of a music. Additionally none of the GTA games (aside from
San Andreas) are influenced by hiphop, they merely feature a hiphop radio
station because hiphop is a popular music genre.

And finally grouping all of the Def Jam games in to one
“franchise” is the rotten cherry on top of this awful article. Def Jam vendetta
and Def Jam Rapstar are not part of the same franchise; they just both share
the Def Jam name. Maybe you should look up the word ‘franchise’ in the
dictionary when you look up ‘influence’.

Why are games such as NBA Street, DJ Hero, Dance Central and ToeJam
& Earl not on the list? And since you clearly don’t know the meaning of the
word ‘franchise’, you could of thrown in Rap Jam, Way Of The Dog and Hip Hop
Dance Experience too. Overall this article is almost as bad as Yeezus.
