mass effect the first trilogy was just emotional for a lot of players it is kind of saying that that bio were took a large shit on us but then they improved the game by making a directors cut witch told us every thing that was not on the collectors edition and they all so put the other levels that where DLC packs for free

Well, it could be a prequel. If that’s the case, then it would make no sense to include any of the first trilogy’s events. Also, if you read that quote, he does not say it will “not mention” the events or pretend that they don’t exist or something…it just says that they will “not relate necessarily” just meaning this won’t be a sequel or spinoff, which is for the best in my opinion. I HATE when franchises refuse to move on and just milk the same plot points, this is a move in the right direction in my opinion.

Even though I’m a fan of the series, I definitely question the logic in not at least mentioning the events in the other games. Is it safe to assume that the other characters part of shepherd’s crew will still be part of the story? If so, then I’ll be even more confused with how they intend to pull this off.

Are they calling it Mass Effect 4, though? I don’t remember ever seeing any confirmation of that title. Also, I think this is a great idea. The franchise, to me, is defined by the universe and all of the characters within it, not just the protagonist we’ve already played as.

Maybe I’m an optimistic fanboy, but I’m pretty excited that they are trying to push the series forward instead of getting hung up by past plot points. That being said, it will be tough to ever top the original trilogy, not just in terms of success and attachment, but just sheer scope as well. I think they will opt for a much more personal storyline in the next games, you can’t really outdo the Reapers.
