In reply to <a href="https://thekoalition.com/2013/the-elder-scrolls-online-hands-on-preview#comment-152420">Hunter McCullough</a>.

Awesome questions -

1) I only got to play the PC version, so beyond the fact that it will exist on PS4 and XB1 I know nothing.

2) It's kind of a mixture. You swing your sword and it can damage anything in the arc (several enemies in a group, for example) but the detection seems to stop there. No physics-based deaths that carry their momentum, damage and everything seems to be calculated under the hood. With that being said, I never *missed* while watching an axe slice through a face, so more like Oblivion/Skyrim than Morrowind, just a tad bit slower.

3) You collect XP generally, pick a stat to level up, then allocate the skill point to whichever tree you decide. I was a Dragon Knight, or something like that, so I had a couple different trees within that archetype, different skills based on weapons (two-handed, sword and shield, dual wielding, archery, etc) and also racial skills. But yeah, XP generally, then a skill point. However, I did notice things like "Heavy Armor" and "One-Handed" were increasing levels as I played, so I'm thinking that skills within a tree only unlock as you level up those trees independently.

There are classes sort of, but you can play however you want and level up skills independent of your class skills and choices. It's sort of a flexible hybrid format.

I'm guessing this was all about the PC version. Any details about the consoles?

When you say combat isn't target-based, does that mean it has hit detection (like Skyrim) or does it rely on die rolls (like Morrowind)?

Do you level up skills to level up or do you collect XP? I saw that you assign skill points, but are those based in the skills you use or are there classes?
