what about people who want to store their old songs from cd’s onto their console. It will be ashame to make them by a whole new album just to play the songs they already have on cd.

We’re being pushed. Not guided or informed. If I buy music, it’s CD form. It’s a VERY rare occasion when I buy some iTunes shit and I don’t even use spotify or any of that shite.

Didn’t read but the primary problem with this is that CDs are still the largest form audio comsunpituin worldwide.only 8/100 people world wise have a stablevinternet connect and only 4/109 have the ability to support streaming.

I like my music to sound good and that’s not the case with streaming services, I know I’m in the minority but I feel it is still relevant to allow higher quality versions for a premium..

For me the most important factor is the best mix and the master for a given album/track; after this I find the best format that mix/master is on, whether CD, DVD-A/DVD-V, SACD, BD-A/BD-V, Vinyl or Hi-Res Downloads…then I rip it losslessly to FLAC on a big HDD, run it in foobar2000 w/WASAPI via my HDMI out into my amp. For portability I use weiss saracon and nero aac to create 320Kbps VBR 44.1KHz MPEG-4 AAC versions for my iPod/Walkman.

but now even when the PS4 gets hacked I will not be able to play my PS1 collection through an emulator because the console does not read CD’s!

In reply to KRyPT. True, I think there are many creative ways they can push the service. And I think they should make it similar to spotify, and give you the option to subscribe for free but have to listen to ads. That way there's less financial pressure for new adopters.

The only reason I see this as a good thing is because it could potentially mean we get a cheaper console, but I hope we’re not forced to rely on cloud streaming just so Sony could pimp their own Music Unlimited service.

If Music Unlimited is our only option for music on the PS4, I hope they do a better job at implementing it. If i’m playing a driving game and want to listen to a 50 Cent song, It should be as simple as hitting the home button, navigating the music section and searching for “50 Cent”. I’m not sure if the PS4 will support the running of background apps but without it Music Unlimited or even Spotify integration just doesn’t interest me.

With that said, I haven’t listened to music to a CD in about a decade so I don’t really care.
