In reply to stealth20k. nintendo did at least finish the year strongly thanks to SM3DW. The success of DK:tropical freeze, mario kart 8 and super smash bros 4 will have a huge impact on whether that momentum can continue during 2014

I don’t think that giving up the console business is the best thing for Nintendo to do. Nor would giving up on the gamepad be wise. In fact I think Nintendo needs to do more to justify the gamepad. At present most games only require the game pad for little things here and there or not at all. Some games make it more essential to the play experience like zombiU. In all honesty I find it baffling that so far the game that has made the best use of it happens to be a 3rd party launch title. traditionally it has been Nintendo makes the hardware to suit the games they want to make, making them the trail blazers giving third parties something to follow on from.
I have reasonable faith that Nintendo will offer up some more innovation, as far as the gamepad is concerned. The WiiU being less powerful than PS4 and xbone will matter less and less if they can have games that are so innovative, so compelling and so appealing that even people with a PS4 will want a wiiU for games that simply aren’t possible on PS4 for all it’s horse power. Sure PS4 has the Vita link feature. But how many developers are going to go all out on a game that explicitly makes use of that feature when the Vita isn’t selling well and therefore the number of PS4 owners who also have a vita would be small.

I doubt very much that Nintendo will ever give up making gaming consoles. And they have already stated that they will not write games for other Consoles because then nobody would buy their Console. I think the Biggest problem they got with Wii U is that Bogus Controller. If People could buy a Wii U without it, i bet it would sell a lot better. Right now you have to have it just to set up the Console, if they Divorced it from the system so that you could use any controller to set up the Wii U than i bet people would buy a system that didn’t come with a Gamepad. Just like Xbox One, if they make it so you can buy one without Kinect sales would be much higher. People don’t want crap shoved down their throat, and that’s what Kinect and Wii U Gamepad is, Crap.
