Lightning returns is the best FF 13 game I’ve ever played. I have played many final fantasy games but this is by far the best. The graphics Is astounding. The gameplay is great and there was open world and linearity so I think it was the best ever. GO LIGHTNING!

got the chance to play this demo the other day. For such a long download, it was such a short amount of game play. The customization and paradigm shift reminds me of FFX-2 sphere/clothes changing, but the game play is fun. The graphics are beautiful, but that is no surprise. I think the only flaw will be the biblical storyline and repetitiveness.

In reply to GaryASwaby. I don't think you can ever get two FF fans to agree on which game is better. It's one of those things with this series. Everyone always has a different favorite. Mine is actually 12 on PS2, so I want something like that in a new game, which I got from A Realm Reborn. 13 is great though.

14 has a lot more in common with the FF series than 13 does- story, lore, job system, combat, world, characters, etc. If anything, 13 has deviated the furthest from the main series of all the previous games. 14 a Failure? 14 is profitable and helped get Square out of a financial hole. It’s helping them pay the bills–one of a few MMOs that are subscription based and maintaining players. It’s actually quite popular.
I like the 13 series. I think the games are all great and loved the demo. I will pay full price for the game too. I was just trolling the article a little because it was given “best of” title from a demo. LOL. I agree with the praise for the Lightning Returns in this article, but finish the game first, then crown it the best of.

FFXIV is a failure as a Final Fantasy game. I don’t even think it deserves to be part of the numbered series. A spinoff at best, a failure at worst. I think Bravely Default looks great but I don’t have a 3DS, would actually buy one just for that game.

I think Lightning Returns could be redemption for the XIII series. Cannot wait to pick up a used copy sometime down the road because even though I liked the demo, the game probably won’t be worth $60.

I’m here for the click bait that is the articles title. The best new Final Fantasy game is the MMO A Realm Reborn and the 3DS title Bravely Default. Those games are more reminiscent of the older games but still make them feel fresh and new. Lightning Returns is probably going to have the best game play of the 13 series but giving it a “best of” after a 20 min demo seems a bit premature. The battle system is fun as hell though. The Bravely Default demo is like 15hrs long on 3DS. I recommend giving it a try.
