Same can be said about Battlefield. Battlefield will always be associated as a PC title but it now sells more on consoles. I’m just saying some multiplat franchises will always be more associated with certain platforms no matter what.

Tomb Raider used to have a HUGE fanbase on the PC. It literally sold millions on that platform.

If it wasn’t coming to other platforms they would have outright said it like EA and Microsoft did for Titanfall.

Even if you don’t count Unfinished Business and The Golden Mask, as they are ‘expansions’ of I and II, respectively, ‘The Lost Artifact’ is standalone. (And yeah, those are official) PC had more releases.

You are wrong. The series always had more entries or developments on PC. Be the simple (Nude) patch, to exclusive leves with re-releases (Like ‘The Golden Mask’), the mini-sequel for III, the XNALara tool which now is used on several different games or the unofficial and official Level Editors with gave birth to the modding community, obviously rooted on PC, which is huge and active to this day.

Duration is the key word . How long is a piece of string ? Not saying it will be but Tomb Raider could be exclusive for the whole of this generation . Only Microsoft and Square know the truth .

For that to work we would have to ignore several key aspects of the history of Tomb Raider series including every single re-release due sales the game has had for PC for every entry till AoD, every set of bonus levels released for PC only from Unfinished Business to The Lost Artifact, the huge level editing community which it’s still active since Chronicles’ launch on 2000 and even infamous happenings like the ‘Nude Raider’ patch. PC still make the ‘bulk’ of the community, every single Tomb Raider “gaming milestone” happened on PC.

And so people recognized more like a videogame icon rather than a specific brand mascot, research papers done on her ‘sex symbol’ status back then establish her as “Archaeologist Lara Croft of computer-game fame”, magazines said Lara was the “figure of the computer game Tomb Raider”, even the press release for the first Tomb Raider film stated how “Lara Croft, leaps from the computer screen to the Big screen in her next Tomb Raider”

It’s true that Sony advertised Tomb Raider heavily but the game has been always ingrained as a PC game staple by sales, presence and it helped how her iconicity took over the marketing efforts.

Now for a third-party that most people associates with the PlayStation brand you could have a case with Crash Bandicoot or Spyro but no Lara Croft.

Dude, really? The ONLY Tomb Raider game on Saturn was the first one. I know because while the sequels came out on PS, I was still playing the first one on Saturn. Tomb Raider has had more games on PS than any other system and you know this. Tell me I’m wrong.

Did you not read the article Square clearly confirms its coming to PC & PS4 later but for those who don’t want to wait they need a XB1 or 360 to play it at launch.

Majority of the people that buy games like COD and Tomb Raider are uniformed. You honestly are going to tell me certain multiplat franchises aren’t more associated with one platform over another. I’m not saying there isn’t a fan base on Xbox or PC or that the game has ever been exclusive, just that their biggest fan base was on PlayStation back in the PS1 era due to marketing hence its association with the brand. Same can be said about so many other franchises.

Only the uninformed who only play on one console would believe this statement. Tomb Raider has always been on PC in some form or another and even sold millions on PC. So I don’t know where you and Tony get these ideas that it’s “associated with Playstation”. This is the type of ignorance that makes my stomach turn.

No, I don’t agree with you at all on this, even with COD. COD used to be a PC only game. MS has an ADVERTISING deal with Activision to help them gain marketshare with COD. That is all. COD is on many systems.

Come on Tor every knows the franchise is most associated with the PlayStation brand since PlayStation pretty much advertised Lara as if she was a mascot back in the PS1 days. Despite the game being on multiple platforms it always had exclusive advertising deals with PlayStation. It’s the same as COD today which is on multiple platforms but is heavily associated with the Xbox brand due to years of partnership with Microsoft. COD biggest fan base on the Xbox platform the same way Tomb Raiders biggest fan base has been on PlayStation despite these franchises being multi platform.

You should know better than this Tony. When Tomb Raider launched, it was on Sega Saturn, PC and Playstation 1. It was never “associated” with just one system. Oo
