Good for her. I'm interested to see where this goes. Good job on disclosing your filthy, scandalous relationship, too ;)

Who knows, maybe these 'big corruptive elitist sites' will fall apart as Basedgamer grows and grows and becomes a huge force. Many people didn't expect Steam to go anywhere, now look at it. It leads PC sales and gaming. Who's to say basedgamer doesn't have a chance in its own market of this?

As for reviews from the big companies like 'Polygon' (lol), maybe they'd be given permission, maybe if not similar to N4G-linking of reviews? But they'd have to pass through inspection first, for bias or ignorance or potential hidden agendas. And unlike N4G, there needs to be a Filter for content since all that place is now is a dumping site for any nobody to toss their unwanted, self-entitled opinion and rubbish means of advertising their websites and generally is frothing with people with zero journalistic integrity who simply upload their own clickbait article for more clicks.

If Basedgamer was like a superior N4G in any sense, I'm in.

It sounds more like you don't understand that GamerGate is about as much a movement as WaterGate. Yes people is demanding fixes to what they consider an established corrupt industry, hardly a movement, we share almost no other common denominators besides being leftwing libertarians for the most part.

I'd agree that basedgamer doesn't sound like the alternative that we were looking for but this is just one out of many projects, maybe it fails, maybe it doesn't, what matters is that alternatives comes out for us.

Metacritic has had a host of problems.

Weighted averages. This is a kind of internet non-neutrality where bigger websites are giving bigger weight, when recent history shows that these websites are more likely to be very biased than the smaller websites. As a result weighted average scores serve the bigger game companies; not the gamers. They give control over final scores to websites that have been shown time and again to be friends with big developers.

User scores. For giving users a 0/10-10/10 scale you let extreme voices have more effect on the score than more moderate voices. A thumb up / thumb down scale is infinitely more valuable to weed this out. Furthermore metacritic does not generally have a contstructive community.

These are two of the five or so big problems of metacritic. If basedgamer manages to tackle these, they may give gamers a better source for game reviews and developers a better source of feedback than currently exists. We'll see. I wish them the best of luck, because currently the climate is abysmal.

I'm not on board with this at all. An aggregator based on a movement seems like it's full of problems. Will Polygon be counted? Will GameSpot? If it'a going to be a fair aggregate it will still need to involve sites that attacked GamerGate. And since Jennie received exponential success from her prominence within the movement, I sincerely doubt she has any reason to detach herself from it.

As well as this, the Indiegogo campaign promising featured articles/content for those that donate more is pretty much the exact thing this site apparently aims to stop. What if a game developer donated a lot and then proceeded to write an article about their own game?

It all just sounds like a bad idea from the get-go
