It looks like fans of Mortal Kombat won’t just be finishing off their opponents with fatalities when Mortal Kombat X releases this April. Brutalities will be making an appearance, allowing you to decimate opponents in a variety of ways.
Confirmed during a stream called Kombat Kast from Netherrealm Studios, the team on the stream told viewers that Brutalities will work a bit differently than in previous games. A few Brutalities from Kitanna, Ermac, Kung Lao, and Raiden were shown off during the stream. Although they weren’t clear on how Brutalities are done or what their properties are, from what was shown, they seem to have a similar concept to instant kill moves from other fighting games when a character is at a certain amount of health.

It was revealed that there are a total over 100 Brutalities in the game, with all the fighters on the roster having multiple ones to decimate their foes. Despite what was shown during the stream, the dev team assured everyone there are even crazier and more gruesome Brutalities in the game that fans should look forward to.
In addition to the news about Brutalities, the stream also brought news about the Kombat Pack, which will contain four playable characters that are still in development. The Kombat Pack will be available with pre-orders of the game, but can also be purchased separately later on. The four characters included in the pack have yet to be announced, but hopefully we can expect some sort of news as we get closer to the game’s release.
Look out for Mortal Kombat X when the game releases on April 14th, 2015 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
