First of all, an excellent and brilliantly written list. Second, thank you.
It is so agonizingly rare for me to find another Mass Effect fan who appreciates, and doesn’t hate, Kaidan Alenko. He is one of my favorite characters in the entire trilogy, and I know I sit very firmly in the minority here, but nevertheless, it will always be Kaidan I save on Virmire. I sighed with relief when I found Ashley to follow Jenkins (I laughed out loud to find he was at the bottom, didn’t even cross my mind initially, but you are right. Poor Jenkins. Butchered like that on his own home planet) since I find that Ashley is usually always saved or generally preferred over Kaidan, when I have always disliked Ashley (its worth noting that I think the voice actress Kimberly Brooks is phenomenal as Oracle in Batman Arkham Asylum and City!) and your right, she is very judgmental, and she never feels truly loyal or a part of the Normandy to me (her line “I can’t tell the aliens from the animals” line on the Citadel is what put the nail in her coffin for me). Kaidan on the other hand is incredibly loyal, even on Horizon, he is clearly conflicted, and seeks reasoning on Mars and develops post-Citadel following the mission where you rescue Jacob, coming full circle with his thoughts on Cerberus. I always bring him along for the Cerberus HQ mission (it helps I always play as a male Shepard and tend to romance him to get full benefits of his dialogue on the penultimate mission). I also agree that there was definite sexual tension in ME1 and ME2 which made the overall romantic relationship worthwhile and well written and not “out of the blue”.

Well written! I personally disagree with how high Kaiden was, and Jenkins deserves to be higher than Vega at least, but it’s your list. Also thane should be higher, but that’s just my opinion. Also just noticed that every squad ranking has Garrus on top. Well done – and wait you met the Legion VA? Cool.

Tali and Garrus are certainly the top 2. Tali’s #1 for me, when the game ended she was the only character (except maybe Mordin) that I felt like I legitimately mourned… I even liked her slightly silly song in the Citadel DLC even though some thought it was a bit cringeworthy. I even read that slightly creepy analysis of her sweat and thought the reference to it in the DLC was excellent.

I personally put Samara and Grunt lower and Kaiden lots lower (I killed him off too though). I also liked Kasumi a lot and was a bit upset that they didn’t make her a more involved character, you hardly got to interact with her (no dialogue trees for between mission interactions) =(

For me it’s Liara 1 and Garrus 2. Those 2 were always on my missions…except when I went to Liaras home planet in ME3 and I chose Liara and Javik for the little history lesson.

Top 4 is correct but, Then Mordin; Legion; Thane; Miranda; in
the order you chose; The rest is sort of just there, but Jacob should be
killed in the first second you can preferably in the first scene. So Jacob
is last after the Illusive Man.

In reply to Tatjana Vejnovic. I just don't like Tali's whole worshipful attitude toward Shepard, or her voice acting. Tali was too much of the plucky schoolgirl trope for me, and I find her attraction to a levo-chiral hominid rather odd. I like characters who really aren't that into Shepard, actually, which is notable since my top two both turn Shepard down flat. Kaidan and Liara were my faves in the first game, and I enjoyed their arcs a great deal. What I did not like about Kaidan is the same thing I didn't like about Ashley: Even though they were very different characters, their progression after Virmire was absolutely identical. Both became the Horizon liaison, both became Spectres, and as Spectres were both in the same places at the same time. The Virmire Survivor was a key choice in the first game, and I had hoped that it would have far-reaching consequences in the subsequent game, but nope, it just affected which character you interacted with in several moments in the game. Even the dialog was word-for-word identical for both characters. What a missed opportunity.

Hahaha, when I was prepping the paperwork for adopting her, I knew she was going to be a Mass Effect cat. It was between Tali and Liara, and Tali just seemed to fit. Mordin I think would be a good dog name, too.

Wrex is my boy. Always fun. Tail has that little sister quality to me. And I stayed with Ash through all three games. I saw more to her than most people. And by the end of 3 I was honestly proud of Jack. I tend to think of the characters more as people and less as combat assets. That being said, I really like this article.

I was big on stealth myself. Though I subbed out Legion for Kasumi (as soon as I was able to pick her up, that is).

Now I’m going to have to reinstall (Steam purchased) ME2. I’ve played through it so SO MANY times… the only reason it’s not installed now is that I had to wipe my drive and reinstall everything, and haven’t gotten to all of the games (I have over 450 games purchased via Steam, so I have to be picky on what I install).
