I’m sorry Stacie but you don’t have a good understanding of economics. You only understand MS is bigger than Sony so you think that MS should buy them to eliminate the competition. Well, the fact is MS would have to buy Sony’s failing divisions as part of buying Sony, just to eliminate their competition in the console space. So they’d be spending a ton of money just to eliminate the most profitable/promising division of Sony. That’s not a winning position MS would ever take.

Also, just as an example. Let’s just say Sony is worth $100b. Then in a year they lose $1b. That isn’t going bankrupt. You don’t up and sell like that either…

And yet, Who making the Billions? Sony? No they are just now turning a profit for the whole company. Let’s be fair, Microsoft could easy buy Sony… IN fact, im surprised they havent tried.

Right because you just completely want to ignore AAA exclusives that release this month such as Disgaea 5, Dragon Quest Heroes, and Tales of Zestria. Just because these franchises don’t appeal to you or are not as popular as the games you mentioned that doesn’t mean the PS4 doesn’t have any AAA exclusives in the 4th quarter. Heck there are some gamers that only play or just prefer Japanese games, and would consider these games to be a better line up. Though the percent of these type of gamers is small, ultimately its up to an individuals preference. I myself believe the XB1 does have a stronger line up this fall. So please stop making statements as if if they are indeed a fact when they are nothing but your personal opinion because you make yourself seem ignorant. Also Tomb Raider is not an exclusive.

Yep! I’m sure there are more on both I’m missing, those were just the examples off the top of my head.

You forgot Gears Of War 4.

I think they both have great lineups in 2016. Scalebound, Quantum Break, Recore, Crackdown 3, Halo Wars 2, probably another Forza for MS. Sony has Horizon, TLG, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted 4, Dreams, PSVR, etc. Definitely looks like this generation will be hitting its stride in 2016!

I’m not here to debate who has the better lineup this year, Xbox wins on paper though I don’t use my XB1 much (playing PS4 and Wii U games so far this fall, MGSV FTW) but Sony has a dominate 2016 lineup. It will be interesting if they can keep momentum and really run away with the generation if PSVR is successful and if they get the system down to $299 with a slim model in 2016 or 2017. They have The Last Guardian, Horizon, Dreams (maybe) and Uncharted 4 coming out (No Man’s Sky too likely) plus some other surprises. I don’t think Sony will have a weak first party lineup in 2016-2018. They kinda took it easy in 2014 and 2015 because I think they knew they had a lead and could rely on third party games. So they likely aimed at 2012-2013 projects to finish in 2016 or 2017, instead of pushing them for 2015. MS has certainly reacted with a large amount of first party content this gen than Sony though it does feel like Microsoft has a more predictable lineup with the same 3-4 franchises being their centerpieces whereas Sony will have a diverse first party exclusive line up in 2016, TLG, Uncharted, Horizon, Dreams, etc.

If you are talking 4th quarter, obviously X1 has the better lineup. However, the article says so far this generation. You could make easily make a case that the PS4 has the stronger lineup, especially if you also game on PC and some of the other titles are available to you.

Damn I thought I put Ryse on there (adding it now). But Ori wasn’t a $60 release, was a downloadable title. Valiant Hearts was a downloadable title and released on everything under the sun, was even free on PS+.

Because Sonys PS4 doesn’t have any AAA Exclusives for the 4th Quarter. What are you talking about?

MS started strong with exclusives with the Xbox One just like they did with the Xbox 360 but after 3-4 years the 360 exclusive support ended. Do you think the strong exclusive support will end half way through with the Xbox One like it did with the 360?

I agree with all your points on MS’ first party. My only disagreement was towards this:

My point is very simple and direct. Last generation, Microsoft didn’t really make first party exclusive games a major focus of the console and they directed a majority of their attention to third party deals similar to what Sony is doing with Call of Duty now. When I say they have more exclusives so far its not just about the number or the quality, but rather they genuinely are putting in more effort as far as actually supporting the system. Sunset Overdrive, Scalebound, and Quantum Break are perfect examples of new IPs that are being created for the system and Phil Spencer has made it clear many times before that new IP and first part exclusives is all he is concerned about. For this reason, the future is bright for Xbox and those who decide to support the system. Just to be clear, no one said anything bad about PS4. I’m specifically talking about Xbox One and Xbox One alone.

That makes no sense. You realize Sony has like 130billion in assets, ya? Sure Sony as a whole is not making profit, but Sony’s games division sales increased 33% year over year and recorded a profit. You don’t syphon money from your divisions doing well to divisions that are a loss. Sony knows this and are investing in their games and network services. Ask MS and the Zune. MS didn’t wait out apple now did they? Sure MS has a ton of money, but they aren’t going to take money from their other divisions to support the gaming side. Now with that said, MS and the Xbox One are doing BETTER than the 360 at this point in the life cycle so obviously the Xbox One is not the Zune. However, if it got to a point where that wasn’t the case, MS would rather cut off a limb than “wait it out”.
